The boil water notice has been lifted for flood-affected areas of Lockyer Valley and Somerset regions. As a precautionary measure, Queensland Urban Utilities had previously advised residents to boil tap water during urgent repairs to flood-damaged water mains, pumping stations and treatment plants. As regular testing did not confirm any contamination of the water supply, Queensland Health today advised that the boil water alert could be lifted in the following areas: • Lockyer Valley- Kensington Grove, Regency Downs, Hatton Vale, Plainlands,Glenore Grove, Withcott, Murphys Creek, Lockyer, Tabletop, Postmans Ridge, Grantham, Lockrose and surrounding areas on town supply. • Somerset - Minden, Brightview, Coolana, Helensdale Estate, Tarampa and surrounding areas on town supply. Important advice Before using mains water for the first time, residents are advised to take precautions and flush all taps for 10 minutes before use. If floodwater submerged the tap, residents should spray the inside and outside of the tap with a bleach solution or mild disinfectant, and wait 10 minutes before flushing. After round-the-clock repairs to restore safe water supply, there are now no boil water alerts for Queensland Urban Utilities customers. |
